An aluminum alloy is a chemical composition where other elements are added to pure aluminum in order to enhance its properties, primarily to increase its strength. These other elements include iron, silicon, copper, magnesium, manganese and zinc at levels that combined may make up as much as 15 percent of the alloy by weight. Alloys are assigned a four-digit number, in which the first digit identifies a general class, or series, characterized by its main alloying elements.

2024 aluminum alloy is composed mainly of aluminum, copper and magnesium. In addition it includes other metallic elements like iron, silicon, manganese and zinc. 2024 is one of the most popular high-strength alloys and is the predominant 2XXX series aircraft alloy. 2024 has high strength after heat treatment but with low corrosion resistance. Working temperatures 212°F (100°C) material must be heat treated. Maximum operating temperature is 302°F (150°C) and under certain conditions is suitable for welding. Used for the manufacture of components withstanding medium or acute pressure, applications requiring high durability whilst under pressure or experiencing sharply fluctuating temperatures as with aviation components.
Typical product applications include: seat frames and covers, safety barriers, brake drum cooling ribs, supports and struts, steering columns and links, train and vehicle construction as well as many building industry applications.
3003-H14 alloy sheets and plates can be cut-to-size to various dimensions. 3003-H14 sheets are occasionally substituted for 5052. In round tubes, 3003-H14 is used when tubes softer than 6061-T6 are needed.
Aluminum 3003-H14 applications and uses include cooking utensils, decorative trim, awnings, siding, acoustic ceilings, corrugated sheets, storage tanks, pipes, metal work, chemical equipment, heat exchangers, air condition evaporators, motor vehicle radiators, freezer linings, cooking utensils, bakery molds and containers.
5052 aluminum alloy contains 2.5% magnesium. It can be used in everything from fuel tanks to refrigerators and even storm shutters. Due to its ease of workability, weldability, and natural corrosion resistance, 5052 is used for manufactured goods.

5083/5086 are high magnesium Aluminum alloys that are particularly resistant to salt water corrosion and used in marine and defense industries. They are easy to form, stamp and weld.
6061 is a member of a series of precipitation-hardened aluminum alloys with magnesium and silicon, characterized by good hot and cold forming (except T6) and good weldability in virtually all processes, including the resistance method, good resistance to atmospheric corrosion even in the conditions of the marine climate or in the atmosphere of heavy industrial production.
6061 alloy can be soft annealed and then heat cured. The standard heat treatment is solution annealing with cooling in water and artificial aging with cooling in air. 6061 alloy is suitable for surface treatment by anodic oxidation and can therefore also be used for load-bearing elements of interior equipment and furniture.
6061-T6 alloy is a stronger version, with a downside of lower flexibility, making it hard to form; it is used in many applications due to its hard wearing, load-bearing nature.
Aluminum Alloy 6063 offers excellent response for anodizing in its T5, T52 and T6 lustrous finish tempers. The most common methods are clear and color dying, bright dipping and hard coat. Alloy 6063 in the T5, T52 and T6 conditions is often used for electrical application due good electrical conductivity. T52 temper offers excellent response for anodizing. Alloy 6063 is for many products, projects and applications, such as architectural and building applications, extrusions, window frames, doors, shop fittings, pipes and tubes for Irrigation systems, railing and furniture. 6063 Aluminum square bar is used where surface finish, low weight and corrosion resistance are required.
7050 is the premier aluminum alloy choice for aerospace applications. It offers the best combination of strength, resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and toughness.
7075 Aluminum alloy has been the 7XXX series standard workhorse of the aerospace industry for decades. Its high strength benefit due to chromium addition provides good stress-corrosion cracking resistance in sheet products. Its good balance of properties makes alloy 7075 the baseline metal for aerospace applications. 7075 has also been thoroughly evaluated for corrosion resistance in atmospheric weathering and exfoliation in all currently available tempers. It is also used in defense industries, mold material in the plastics industry, aircraft fittings, gears and shafts, fuse parts, meter shafts and gears, missile parts, regulating valve parts, worm gears and keys.
7475 aluminum is a controlled toughness alloy specialized for applications that require a combination of high strength, superior fracture toughness and resistance to fatigue crack propagation. Due to its characteristics, this alloy is specified for high performance aerospace applications where high fracture toughness is a major consideration. Alloy 7475 in temper T7351 is recommended for optimum resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Tread Plate is also known as Aluminum diamond plate, durbar floor plate and checker plate. With a raised diamond pattern on one side, it is typically made from aluminum or stainless steel and comes in a range of thicknesses. 4017-H22 Aluminum Diamond Plate has a shiny finish and is equivalent to 3003. It is used for building, vehicles, transportation, manufacturing and architectural applications.
