Acetal copolymer is an engineering thermoplastic based on formaldehyde polymerization technology. Acetal copolymer has a very good balance of tensile properties, shear strength, stiffness, and toughness. It is a natural bearing material with a very low coefficient of friction against metals, and major abrasion resistance.
Acetal Sheets and Acetal Rods acetal copolymer provides high strength and stiffness coupled with enhanced dimensional stability and ease of machining. As a semi-crystalline material, acetal is also characterized by a low coefficient of friction and good wear properties in wet and dry environments. Acetal copolymer has a high strength, modulus, and resistance to impact and fatigue, and its light weight make sit in use as a metal replacement.
Delrin is an acetal homopolymer and has a uniform backbone with a larger crystalline block structure than acetal copolymers, providing better chemical bonding. As a result, Delrin is the stiffest and strongest unreinforced technical engineering polymer available.

Nylon 6/6 is one of the most versatile engineering thermoplastics. It is popular in every major market using thermoplastic materials. Thanks to its excellent balance of strength, ductility and heat resistance, Nylon 6/6 is an outstanding candidate for metal replacement applications.
Nylon 6/6 is very easy to process with a very wide process time, which allows it to be used for everything from complex, thin to large thick-walled housings. Nylon 6/6 can be easily modified with fillers, fibers, internal lubricants, and impact modifiers. With the use of fiber reinforcements, the physical strength of nylon 6/6 can be significantly improved.
HDPE, also known as High Density Poly Ethylene is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum. It is one of the most versatile & widely used materials around. It can be machined, thermoformed & welded. It is widely used in food applications including cutting boards, bottles & tanks. HDPE is known for its outstanding tensile strength & large strength to density ration. HDPE also has a high impact resistance & melting point. Hadco carries smooth HDPE in natural & black as well as marine grade & cutting board.
UHMW Polyethylene or UHMWPE, also known as high molecular weight polyethylene, is a is a high-performance plastic, machinable thermoplastic. It is widely used across many industries, including food and beverage, conveying, material handling, and packaging.
UHMW Polyethylene is highly durable, cost-efficient, and versatile material with superior impact and chemical resistance. UHMW Polyethylene Plate is known for high impact strength, resistance to corrosive chemicals, low moisture absorption and abrasion resistance. Its toughness, extremely low coefficient of friction, and inherent lubricity make UHMWPE ideal for applications where high levels of friction are likely to arise.
Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and thermal properties. PEEK has a continuous use temperature of up to 260°C (500°F) and a short-term temperature resistance of up to 330°C (626°F).
Polyether ether ketone is resistant to most acids, bases, and organic solvents. It has high strength and stiffness, low coefficient of friction and good electrical insulation properties, among other benefits.
Its high temperature and chemical resistance make it ideal for applications in aerospace, automotive, and medical device components. It is also used in oil and gas exploration and production, as well as in electrical and electronic applications. Other potential applications for PEEK include bearings, gears, seals, and wear parts.
PTFE-Virgin Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a versatile polymer used in a broad range of medical, industrial, and high technology applications. PTFE offers excellent thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties, as well as superior control over pore size, permeability, water entry pressure, and thickness. PTFE is an ideal choice for a wide variety of demanding applications requiring one or a combination of these exceptional properties.
PTFE is inert, making it unreactive to most chemicals, and, it can work in high processing and operating temperature environments. PTFE is a very useful material because it has a unique combination of properties. It isa most commonly used in the Electronics-Semiconductor, Oil & Gas and Material Handling and Conveying industries. PTFE is weatherable, has excellent electrical insulation, high temperature resistance, a low coefficient of friction and non-adhesive properties.
Polypropylene is known for it’s excellent chemical & corrosive resistance. It is also easily weldable & machined. Polypropylene is commonly used in tank fabrication & hood lining applications & is widely used in food processing, pump & valve & semiconductor applications. Hadco carries homopolymer & Copolymer grades & available colors are natural, white & black. Other colors are available as a custom production.
PVC also known as Poly Vinyl Chloride has excellent chemical & corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in outdoor applications due to it’s weather resistance. Common applications include tanks, valves, fittings & piping systems. PVC is also a good electrical & thermal insulator & has a superior flammability rating compared with most polymers. Hadco carries Type 1 gray plate & rod in most sizes. white & black options are also available as well as impact modified (type II). Hadco also offers CPVC for applications where higher corrosion resistance is necessary.
ABS also known as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is an economical & easy to machine engineering plastic with good impact resistance & dimensional stability. ABS also has strong electrical insulation properties & thermal properties making it ideal for thermoforming & welding. Common applications include automotive covers, electrical enclosures & instrument panels. Hadco stocks black ABS plate from 3/8″ to 2.5″ & many diameters of round bar. Natural ABS is available on request as well as general purpose grade in thinner gauges with a hair cell texture on one side.
Clear polycarbonate is optically clear & extremely impact resistant. Polycarbonate also posses excellent UV resistance, low moisture absorption & high dielectric strength. It is also much lighter than glass making it an ideal alternative in many applications. Polycarbonate is easy to machine & fabricate. Common applications include machine guards, windows, face shields, lenses, electrical insulators & instrument components. Due to these factors you will find polycarbonate in most industries but some of the more widely used industries are aerospace, construction, sign & display, fluid handling & electronics. Hadco carries 48″ x 96″ sheets from 1/16″ to 1/2″ thick. Hadco also offers machine grade polycarbonate in thicker gauges on request.
Ultem 1000 also known as unfilled Polyetherimide is a semi transparent high performance polymer with high strength & excellent flame & heat resistance. Ultem 1000 has a continuous operating temperature up to 340 degrees F making it ideal for high heat applications. Ultem 1000 is also FDA & USP Class VI complaint making it commonly used in food, Semiconductor & medical applications. Common Ultem 1000 applications include aircraft components, electrical connectors, medical devices & wafer production. Ultem is also made with various percentages of glass with the most common being 30% glass. Hadco primarily stocks natural Ultem however black Ultem is available upon request.
Phenolic or thermoset composite is a general term for a high pressure lamination of polymer resin & cloth. This process is done with various cloth materials with the most common being canvas, linen, glass & paper. There are upwards of 30 kinds of phenolic whom all posses different physical properties. Most grades posses high tensile, compressive, impact & electrical properties making it ideal for insulation & structural applications. Common applications include circuit boards, brake pads, wear pads, electrical insulators & terminal boards. Hadco has access to all available grades of phenolic but our general inventory consists of G10, G10/FR4, C & CE grades. Other common grades that Hadco offers are L, LE, G11 and XX.
