What is Grating?

Metal grating is commonly used in commercial and industrial settings. Typical uses include stairs, catwalks, factory flooring, walkways, railing insert panels, and other architectural and structural elements.
Hadco offers two types of grating to meet your project needs: welded steel bar grating and aluminum swage lock bar grating. Our strict adherence to and compliance with stringent quality standards has been recognized by many of our customers, especially in the defense, aerospace and commercial manufacturing sectors.

Aluminum Grating

Aluminum grating is constructed with a rectangular bearing bar. The cross bars are inserted into pre-punched holes of the bearing bars and then it is hydraulically swaged under pressure to lock the bearings bars in place. With this process, the swage-locked grating forms a permanently locked structure. We offer aluminum swage lock bar grating in a 6063 alloy and the standard 19S4 spacing.
There are a variety of applications that are ideal for aluminum swage lock bar grating, including trench covers, drainage covers, tree grate covers, stair treads, walkways and security screens in residences and commercial buildings. It can also be used as platforms in industrial and commercial applications. The openings can provide a cost savings for many projects by maximizing the circulation of air, light, heat, water and sound, while promoting cleanliness.

Galvanized Steel Grating

Galvanized steel grating is the most common of all the grating types due to its strength. It is cost-efficient and allows for easy installation. Galvanized steel grating is resistance welded to create a sturdy one piece constructed panel. The bearing bars are welded at the contact point with the cross bars under a combination of high heat and pressure that fuse the cross bars together. It is generally used in industrial plants as well as commercial buildings. The material is offered in both a galvanized and mill finish and the standard 19W4 spacing.
There are a variety of applications suitable for welded steel bar grating, such as safety barriers, platforms, walkways, drainage cover and ventilation grates. The openings present cost saving by maximizing the circulation of air, light, heat, water and sound, while promoting cleanliness.

Serrated Grating

Serrated grating is a type of metal grid with rows of pointed teeth that run perpendicular to the length of the grating. It is typically used as a safety and anti-slip surface on walkways and stairways, as well as in industrial applications such as machine shops and factories. The teeth can provide additional grip and help reduce the risk of slips and falls. Serrated grating is also easy to clean and maintain, and it is often used in areas that are exposed to harsh weather and heavy foot traffic.
