Magnesium is one of the most abundant elements found on the planet. It is also one of the most commonly utilized structural metals—third only behind iron and aluminum.
Magnesium alloys are the lightest metal structural materials used for engineering applications. Not only are they ideal for their lightness, but the combination of strength and lightness makes magnesium alloys highly flexible and versatile.
Magnesium alloys are often used in the automotive, aerospace, weapons, electronic and other fields, because of their low density, high specific strength and stiffness, good damping characteristics, as well as excellent castability. For example, it absorbs vibration much longer while keeping dimensional stability. This gives it 4 to 5 times greater tool life. u It is up to 5 times more machinable than rolled aluminum. It can machine dry, without oil or chemicals.
Magnesium Round Bars AZ31 alloy, in its purest form, can be compared with aluminum, and is strong and light, so it is used in several high-volume part manufacturing applications, including automotive and truck components.
